Are you sure you want to go with such a strong statement? Take octopuses for instance. They are capable of long term reasoning, they have evolved naturally to use tools without any human intervention, they play games of their own, it is pretty clear that they dream vividly and more than 2/3rds of their nervous system is in their arms, not their heads. By the way, they have photoreceptors all over their skin.

All evidence shows that not only they have a "mind" but their sense of self likely steams from their whole body, not from their heads, like us. Can you picture thinking with your forearms or seeing with your skin?

Probably not. Yet, your statement downright says that this is not conscious because it is not the same as a human.
