I agree with you. Gold has no real “useful” value, it is just a rare thing that doesn’t gets old. Wheat might be indeed a better choice, although I am not sure all cultures revolve around wheat and bread. My point is not about the value of gold, but about money not really being attached to “value” anymore.
I said that in the context of the article, which questions why the dollar has not lowered in value even with massive printing. My thoughts are on it not being really a measure of value anymore, even though it is used as such.
