I get your point, but, I am sorry, nothing of that would ever be needed if Java had stayed with Sun.

Oracle is the one to blame, not lack of competition. What Oracle did was a buy-and-forget move. They never really intended to mature the language, which was a pain in the ass for the entire computer science industry, as the only real competitor (C#) was Windows-locked, and now that its not anymore, I only see a downhill path for Java.

Oracle is "moving" now because of competition, as you said, that's true.... and sad.

In the end, Java is the next cobol while the JVM will outlive it because of other people's efforts.
