I once read that marketing is convincing someone to pick your product, while analytics is convincing someone that there are several alternatives. As I see it, you did not “leave” data science, you just wanted to become this “someone” that must be convinced. However, I feel that trying to be the data scientist and product owner at the same time might be too biased. If I have an idea for my business and I do the data science myself, I will end up just looking for data to convince myself I am right, instead of trying to see what alternatives I have. It ends up being marketing, not analytics. What are your thoughts on the bias of being both the decision maker and the intelligence gatherer?
