I think fertility rates are an undervalued metric. If people are having less babies that means they are unwell economically. Living is expensive, having a baby is even more so. Baby boomers had a nicer country to live in. They could afford their lifestyles and have two or three babies without being certain of bankruptcy. Nowadays who can have 3 kids and have a normal life?
